Piano Practice: Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin

I stumbled a bit at the beginning, then I picked up the pace around at 39 sec. So skip it to there if you wish. I just wanted to share this because it shows what my family has to listen to :)

Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin was the piece that was intimidating at the beginning of September last year. In fact, this was what had made me want to take a break from lessons. You can read more about in my page: my music lessons.

As you see, this is only a part of the song. My piano teacher told me the rest of the music is for higher level.

At the last lesson on Thursday, I stumbled a lot with this piece, because I hadn't reviewed it for a while. I was little discouraged coming home, but determined to play again. With 8 time through, my fingers remembered more than I did. Interesting. So this video was taken after maybe 20 tries.  This will be the one of the songs I will be practicing really hard for the recital in June.

The voice is set to "Honky-Tonk". The next piano post will be the Blues, which my piano teacher thinks that I have a knack for it. Who knew!
